Wide Stave End Grain - Sapele
Manufactured by hand in our Devon factory, our End Grain Wide Stave worktops offer a hard wearing and resilient surface perfect for creating a feature in your kitchen. By producing it in this way aspects of the timber are revealed that you would not see on long grain worktops.
Sapele is a tropical African timber that shares many attributes with Mahogany and is now widely used as a substitute for the more expensive, harder to source timber. Like Mahogany, Sapele has a rich dark reddish colour with medium to dark brown grain patterning which will deepen with age. The grain itself can present a wide variety of patterns from the common straight/ribbon effect when quarter sawn to more wavy patterns.
